VW pronta para apresentar 3 protótipos eletrificados no Salão de Shanghai

VW continues its investment in the Chinese market, and after announcing that it will launch, through the joint venture with the FAW Group, 11 new cars aimed at the largest automotive market in the world, starting in 2026, it has now announced that it will present three production model prototypes this month.

The presentation of the new prototypes is scheduled for the Shanghai Auto Show, which will take place from April 23 to May 2, and it is already known that all models are electrified vehicles being developed in partnership between VW and various local brands.

The highlight of the prototypes to be presented by VW is an electric “notchback” from FAW-VW, which will be accompanied by a segment B electric SUV with range extender from SAIC VW, and a fully electric SUV from VW Anhui.

The three prototypes incorporate the new DNA of the German brand in China, both in terms of technology and design, as well as in the development time, which has been reduced by more than 30%.

These new production model prototypes to be presented in Shanghai belong to the new energy vehicle (NEV) group, which in China includes fully electric vehicles, as well as models with plug-in hybrid engines and range extenders.

It is worth noting that VW plans to launch more than 20 models by 2027, allowing the company to provide an appropriate electrified offering for all customers.

“Our strategy ‘In China, for China’ has put us on the right path. Our goal is to remain the leading international car manufacturer in China, even in the era of smart and connected vehicles,” said Thomas Schäfer, CEO of VW. “We have everything we need to succeed: shorter development timelines, strong partners, sophisticated local development, production, and infrastructure, as well as products and innovations tailored to our Chinese customers. This is exactly what we will demonstrate with our prototypes that are almost in production in Shanghai.”
