Alpine’s Rising Star Jack Doohan Shuts Down Injury Speculations Ahead of Bahrain Grand Prix

Alpine’s rookie sensation, Jack Doohan, has been through a rollercoaster ride in the 2025 Formula 1 season. The young Australian faced a challenging moment during the Japanese race weekend when a crash in FP2 left him visibly in pain. As fans eagerly anticipated his performance in the upcoming Bahrain Grand Prix, concerns arose about his well-being following the dramatic incident at Turn 1 in Japan.

Footage from the Japanese Grand Prix showed Doohan struggling to extricate himself from his car after completing 53 laps. With the help of fellow driver Esteban Ocon and vigilant marshals, Doohan managed to get out of the car, visibly nursing his left arm. Speculations about his condition started circulating among viewers, especially with reserve driver Franco Colapinto waiting in the wings. However, the rookie was quick to address these rumors and put them to rest.

In a press conference, Doohan candidly discussed the aftermath of the crash, stating, “I was sore a little bit on Friday, and certainly Saturday was a bit worse and Sunday a little bit worse again. So I’d say that there was pain from the start of the race.” Despite the discomfort, Doohan highlighted the adrenaline rush during the race, helping him push through the physical strain.

The crash was attributed to Doohan’s failure to close the DRS flap as he approached the corner, leading to a loss of downforce and subsequent impact with the barriers. Team principal Ollie Oakes acknowledged the misjudgment, emphasizing the learning opportunity for Doohan and the team. The significant damage incurred by the car resulted in an estimated repair cost of around £1.3 million and triggered a red flag during the already eventful Suzuka race weekend.

Despite the setbacks, Doohan displayed resilience by securing a 15th place finish after starting in 19th position, closely trailing his teammate Pierre Gasly. With limited experience at the track, the young driver faced challenges during qualifying but managed to deliver a commendable performance on race day.

As the Bahrain Grand Prix looms ahead, all eyes will be on Jack Doohan as he looks to bounce back from adversity and make his mark on the F1 circuit. The rookie’s determination and spirit in the face of adversity continue to captivate fans and pundits alike, setting the stage for an exciting chapter in his burgeoning career.
