Fernando Alonso Frustrated After Missing Out on Points Again

Former two-time world champion, Fernando Alonso, expressed his disappointment after finishing outside the top 10 for the third consecutive race. The Spanish driver, hoping to break his streak of poor results in Bahrain, was unable to secure any points at the Japanese Grand Prix, landing him in 11th place.

Unlike his earlier races in Australia and China, Alonso crossed the finish line at Suzuka but fell short of entering the points zone. With zero points in the championship so far, he finds himself among the five drivers yet to score, including Alpine teammates, Liam Lawson, Gabriel Bortoleto, and managed by Alonso’s A14 Management.

Reflecting on his performance in Japan, Alonso compared the current season to his 2012 campaign, emphasizing the need to improve. He stated, “It was a tough race today in Suzuka, and despite our efforts, we lost points. I had Gasly behind me in the first half and Tsunoda close in the second half, so I couldn’t make any mistakes.”

Alonso, known for his love of the Suzuka circuit, acknowledged the challenges of overtaking on the track, highlighting the importance of enhancing the car’s performance for future races. Looking ahead to Bahrain, he expressed eagerness to make progress and develop the car further.

The Japanese Grand Prix proved to be a tough challenge not just for Alonso but for Aston Martin as well. Lance Stroll, starting from the back, finished in 20th place, a lap down from race winner Max Verstappen. Stroll commented, “Ultimately, there wasn’t much we could do today. It was just one of those days, and we will see what we can do next weekend.”

As Alonso strives to turn his luck around and secure points in upcoming races, the pressure is on for the veteran driver to deliver results and elevate his team’s performance on the track.
