Alpine Fails Again in Suzuka, Gasly Disappointed: “We Gave It Our All”

Alpine’s nightmare continues as they hit rock bottom once more at Suzuka, with neither Gasly nor Doohan securing a top-ten finish from Melbourne to Suzuka this season. The French team remains scoreless, the only constructor in this dire situation after the first three races of the 2025 championship.

Hopes were high for Alpine heading into the Japanese Grand Prix, with expectations of rain during the race. However, the anticipated weather twist never materialized, leaving the team struggling on a dry track. Gasly, starting from 11th on the grid, could only manage a 13th place finish, expressing disappointment in the team’s performance. Despite a well-balanced car, the lack of pace was evident, with a risky start and time lost during a pit stop further hampering their chances of scoring points.

Gasly lamented, “We did our best, but it wasn’t enough to be close to the points. We have a good chance next week in Bahrain, where the car seemed to perform well in pre-season testing. Conditions will be different, but it’s an opportunity to reset and hopefully achieve a better result.”

Meanwhile, Jack Doohan’s race had a slightly more positive outcome. After a challenging start to the weekend with a crash in FP2, Doohan qualified second to last but managed to finish 15th in the race. Reflecting on his performance, Doohan highlighted the team’s strategic tire choice, allowing them to attack and make progress during the race.

Doohan commented, “It was good to complete another race and continue gaining experience. Starting where we did, we opted for a more aggressive tire strategy with the Soft compound at the beginning, giving us the best chance to move up the field. Although we had to defend towards the end, it was positive progress on a track known for being difficult to overtake.”

Alpine faces an uphill battle to turn their season around and climb up the standings as they head to the next race in Bahrain. Will they bounce back from their Suzuka disappointment, or is their championship campaign destined for more struggles?
