McLaren’s Shocking Revelation: Norris Struggles in Qualifying Despite Leading Championship

In a surprising turn of events, McLaren’s star driver, Lando Norris, is facing qualifying struggles despite leading the World Championship in the F1 2025 season. The British driver, along with teammate Oscar Piastri, qualified in the top 3 in Japan, but both have encountered challenges that need to be addressed urgently.

McLaren, initially considered the favorites for the year, is now reeling from the qualifying issues plaguing Norris. The team is determined to enhance the performance of the MCL39, especially in qualifying sessions, to ensure Norris can showcase his full potential on the track.

Following a close call in qualifying where Norris narrowly missed out on pole position to Max Verstappen, McLaren is leaving no stone unturned in diagnosing and rectifying the problem. Team boss Andrea Stella revealed that they have pinpointed an aspect of the car that needs improvement to allow Norris to excel in delivering his best lap times.

Stella highlighted that the sensitivity of the car, particularly in response to the driver’s input, is a crucial area that requires adjustment. Norris, in particular, is struggling with overlapping braking and cornering phases, leading to increased tire degradation compared to his teammate Piastri.

While Piastri also has areas to improve, the issues hampering Norris seem to be more driver-specific. Nonetheless, McLaren is committed to working on enhancing the MCL39 to provide Norris with a more natural and comfortable driving experience, especially during crucial qualifying runs.

With the World Championship title within reach, McLaren’s focus on resolving Norris’s qualifying woes could be the key to maintaining their position at the top of the standings. As the team gears up for the upcoming races, all eyes will be on Norris and McLaren to see if their strategic adjustments will pay off in securing victory on the track.
