Former Formula 1 driver Johnny Herbert is confident that Yuki Tsunoda is the right man for the job at Red Bull Racing. Tsunoda, who replaced Liam Lawson for the Japanese Grand Prix, is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the team alongside superstar Max Verstappen.

In an exclusive interview, Herbert praised Tsunoda’s performance on the racetrack and highlighted his impressive qualifications. He emphasized Tsunoda’s improved race pace and overall package, indicating that the Japanese driver was the ideal choice for the team.

Herbert compared Tsunoda’s performance to Lawson’s stint at Racing Bulls, where Lawson failed to outshine his teammate. The former Grand Prix winner suggested that Lawson’s lack of experience and inability to dominate Tsunoda proved he wasn’t ready for the main Red Bull team.

Acknowledging the challenge that lies ahead for Tsunoda against the likes of Verstappen, Herbert noted the energy and determination the young driver brings to the table. He highlighted the immense pressure and high expectations that come with driving for a top team like Red Bull.

Red Bull’s senior advisor, Marko, admitted that the decision to choose Lawson was a mistake, a sentiment echoed by Herbert. He emphasized the tough nature of Formula 1, where some drivers take time to adapt to new roles, while others excel from the start.

As Tsunoda gears up to face the formidable competition at Red Bull, all eyes will be on the young driver to see if he can rise to the occasion and prove his worth on the track.
