Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc are on the edge of their seats as they eagerly await the upcoming Ferrari F1 upgrades. The dynamic duo is banking on the enhancements in Ferrari’s pipeline to give them the competitive edge they need to catch up with front-runners Mercedes and Red Bull.

Ferrari made a bold move by changing to a pull-rod front suspension layout this season, a decision aimed at maximizing their performance on the track. However, both Hamilton and Leclerc have expressed concerns about the current lack of aerodynamic load in the SF-25 car, hindering their overall speed.

Despite Leclerc’s impressive fourth-place qualifying at the Japanese Grand Prix, Hamilton commended his teammate for surpassing the car’s limitations and pushing its boundaries. The divergent set-up choices made by the drivers marked a new direction in their approach, with Leclerc making progress with his adjustments throughout the race weekend.

Leclerc acknowledged the incremental improvements in comfort and performance resulting from the set-up changes but highlighted the pressing need to close the gap with Mercedes in terms of pace. Both drivers are eagerly anticipating the mid-season upgrades that could potentially revolutionize Ferrari’s performance on the track.

Hamilton praised Leclerc’s stellar performance but emphasized the necessity of upgrades to enhance the car’s capabilities further. The drivers’ contrasting views on set-up strategies underscore the intricate balance between qualifying performance and race dynamics, with both aiming to find the optimal configuration for maximum speed.

Analyses of Leclerc’s qualifying lap highlighted the challenges Ferrari faces in stabilizing the rear end of the car, particularly affecting traction on corner exits. The team’s struggle to match the performance of competitors like McLaren and Red Bull underscores the urgency for increased aerodynamic load and overall grip to dominate in the upcoming races.

As Ferrari looks ahead to the future races beyond the current triple-header, the focus shifts to adding downforce to the car to replicate the progress achieved in the latter stages of the 2024 season. The impending upgrades hold the key to Ferrari’s quest for supremacy on the F1 circuit, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown with their rivals.
