The market for electrified vehicles grows by 37.8% in March.

The Automobile Association of Portugal (ACAP) revealed that in the third month of 2025, 14,043 electrified vehicles were registered in Portugal, representing a growth of 37.8% compared to the same month in 2024.

By category, in March, 13,733 electrified light passenger cars were registered, which includes 100% electric models, plug-in hybrids, and electric hybrids, representing a growth of 37% compared to the same month in 2024.

In the cumulative total for the first quarter, registrations of this type of light passenger vehicles reached 33,262 units, reflecting a positive variation of 29.7% compared to the same period in 2024.

Specifically, looking at 100% electric vehicles in the third month of 2025, there was an increase of 32.8% compared to the same month in 2024, with 4,964 new light passenger vehicles registered.

In the first quarter of 2025, there was a 29.2% increase compared to the same period the previous year for new 100% electric light passenger vehicles, with 12,175 units registered.

Meanwhile, the market for electrified light commercial vehicles recorded a positive evolution of 68.6% in March compared to the same month in 2024, with 285 units registered.

 In cumulative terms, this market reached 783 units, representing a growth of 20.3% compared to the same period last year.

On its part, the market for 100% electric light commercial vehicles recorded a growth of 66.3% in the third month of 2025. Thus, from January to March 2025, there is a growth of 19.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.

As for the heavy vehicle market, which includes both passenger and cargo types, in March, 25 new heavy vehicles were registered, all of them 100% electric.

In cumulative terms, over the three months of 2025, there was a positive evolution of 41.4% compared to the same period in 2024, with 41 vehicles registered, all of them 100% electric. It should be noted that according to data from ACAP, the national car market grew by 5.9% in March.
