High-speed racing has always been the backbone of NASCAR and has played a significant role in shaping the sport. Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway are the two venues that host the most exciting, chaotic, and watched races in the world of NASCAR. However, in 2022, a new track joined the mix.

Atlanta Motor Speedway underwent repaving and was transformed into a compact Superspeedway. Over the past three years, all races held at this track have been successful in terms of entertainment value. Last Sunday witnessed the closest finish among the top three in the history of the sport, with a difference of only 0.003 seconds between the winner and second place, and a difference of 0.007 seconds between the winner and third place.

Now, Denny Hamlin, a three-time Daytona 500 champion, shared his perspective on the challenging nature of racing at the Atlanta track. He believes that winning a race at this new venue is more difficult than winning at a traditional Superspeedway like Daytona and Talladega. He also emphasized the significant impact of drafting in Atlanta.

During the discussion about the effects of drafting in Atlanta, Hamlin highlighted the narrowness of the track in Georgia, which amplifies the importance of drafting compared to tracks like Daytona. Unlike Talladega, where there is ample room for air to escape, the draft in Atlanta is incredibly powerful.

Denny Hamlin will join the rest of the Cup grid next Sunday in Atlanta for the third race of the season. He hopes to bounce back after disappointing results at Superspeedways, where he usually performs well.
