Red Bull’s Shocking Rejection: Franco Colapinto Never Considered for F1 Promotion

Red Bull Racing: Shocking Truth Behind Franco Colapinto Rumors Revealed!

In a jaw-dropping turn of events, Red Bull Racing advisor Helmut Marko has set the record straight regarding the wild rumors surrounding Franco Colapinto’s potential move to the team. Contrary to speculation, Marko confirmed that Colapinto was never seriously considered as a replacement for Liam Lawson at Red Bull.

Following a lackluster start to the F1 2025 season, Lawson found himself demoted to the Racing Bulls junior team after underwhelming performances in Australia and China. Red Bull wasted no time in promoting Yuki Tsunoda to the senior team, marking a significant shake-up in their lineup for the Japanese Grand Prix.

Rumors had been swirling that Colapinto was back on Red Bull’s radar, given his impressive stint with Williams last season and subsequent role as Alpine’s reserve driver. However, Marko debunked these speculations, emphasizing that Colapinto was never a topic of discussion during his meeting with Alpine team principal Oliver Oakes.

Despite brief flirtations with Red Bull in the past, Colapinto’s F2 performances failed to impress the Red Bull hierarchy, with rising star Isack Hadjar proving to be the preferred choice. Marko made it clear that Colapinto was never a serious contender for a seat at Red Bull, especially with Hadjar consistently outperforming him in Formula 2.

Moreover, former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher revealed on the Backstage Boxengasse podcast that there was internal discord at Red Bull regarding the choice between Lawson, Tsunoda, and Colapinto. While Dr. Marko favored his own drivers, Horner pushed for Colapinto, only to be overruled due to concerns about the Argentine driver’s performance record.

As the dust settles on the Colapinto saga, Red Bull Racing remains focused on maximizing their lineup to challenge for the F1 title. With Tsunoda’s promotion adding a new dynamic to the team, all eyes will be on how the drivers perform in the upcoming races.

Stay tuned for more explosive developments in the world of F1 as the season unfolds!
