Heartbreaking Loss: F1 Stars Colapinto and Perez Lead Tributes to Beloved Cameraman

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, the Formula 1 community is mourning the sudden loss of the beloved F1 cameraman, Ulises Panizza. Alpine reserve driver Franco Colapinto and former Red Bull star Sergio Perez have spearheaded the tributes to the long-serving and popular figure in the paddock.

Ulises Panizza, known for his work with Fox and ESPN Latin America, tragically passed away just days before he was set to head to Suzuka for the Japanese Grand Prix, marking the third race of the F1 2025 season.

Franco Colapinto, who recently transitioned to Alpine as a reserve driver for the 2025 season, expressed his grief on social media, remembering Panizza fondly: “A great Uli. Always leaving everything we will miss you! So nice to have shared together my first races in F1! Much strength to all the family!”

Sergio Perez, the accomplished Mexican driver with six F1 wins under his belt, also paid his respects, saying, “Very saddened by the departure of our dear Uli. His joy and his sense of humour will be missed. Rest in peace, brother.”

The F1 world, including figures like presenter Giselle Zarur Maccise and reporter Albert Fabrega, shared their heartfelt condolences for Panizza. Giselle Zarur Maccise reminisced, “Uli, rest in peace my friend. So many memories We will miss you on and off the track,” while Albert Fabrega penned, “F1 and life will be sadder, colder and greyer without you Uli. Rest in peace my friend. We will never forget you. Always with us daddy.”

Former F1 presenter Will Buxton also joined the chorus of tributes, highlighting Panizza’s infectious love for life and his vibrant spirit, calling the news devastating.

The Formula 1 community is united in grief as they remember the cheerful presence and invaluable contributions of Ulises Panizza, whose absence will be deeply felt both on and off the track.
