BMW has established a partnership with Alibaba Group to research and develop advanced technologies, integrating the Chinese giant’s Artificial Intelligence into its new models produced in China.
As a result, starting next year, vehicles manufactured in China will feature Alibaba’s AI Tongyi Qianwen, a rival system to ChatGPT, a technology that will be used to enhance the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, making interactions within the vehicle more intuitive and efficient.
According to BMW, the new AI technology, which will be specifically adapted for Chinese consumers, will have human-like communication capabilities, as well as the ability to interpret complex commands and accurately recognize intentions, providing a smoother and more natural experience.
One of the highlights is the active recommendation feature, which will utilize internal sensors and cameras to offer personalized services to drivers and passengers. The new technology will be applied across the entire line of engines and models produced by the brand in China.
The partnership with Alibaba Group is part of the 360-degree AI strategy in China, focusing on the digitalization of production, user experience, and innovation in research and development. The goal is to accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence throughout the company’s value chain in China.
