At a time when Tesla’s sales are declining in Europe, Elon Musk’s brand has announced that it will start selling its models in Saudi Arabia starting next April.
The American brand of 100% electric vehicles has finally reached an agreement with Saudi authorities for the commercialization of its models in what is the largest market in the Middle East.
It is worth recalling that a disagreement between Elon Musk and the Saudi sovereign fund, the Public Investment Fund, over a ‘tweet’ posted by Musk in 2018, claiming he had secured funding to take his electric vehicle company private at $420 per share, led Musk to court when the offer did not materialize, and Saudi Arabia to prevent Tesla from selling its models in that Middle Eastern market.
The tensions between Saudi authorities and Tesla decreased in the second half of 2024, when Musk took on a prominent role in the electoral campaign of U.S. President Donald Trump, and later in the new U.S. administration.
Now the situation has been resolved, and Tesla’s launch event in Riyadh is scheduled for April 10, where the brand will showcase its range of electric vehicles and solar-powered products.
