His unfortunate off-track incident in Australia, which cost him precious points despite spending most of the race in the second spot, has kept him 10 points adrift of Norris. He also trails behind Verstappen and George Russell in the drivers’ standings.
The McLaren driver insists that he is not yet considering the championship, choosing instead to focus on one weekend at a time. This, he believes, is the optimal approach to clinch a championship title – by extracting the most from each race weekend.
