The team formerly known as recently went through a controversial name change in the F1 grid. The new team name sparked debates within the paddock regarding the permissibility of such changes under the regulations. The VCARB team boss recently commented on the new team name and shared his perspective.

The VCARB name has faced criticism from fans and influential figures in the paddock. Many believe that this “identity crisis” could further commercialize the sport. Bayer, agreeing with the paddock’s complaints, expressed his own opinion.

Racing Bulls is the company’s name in Italy. We have discussed various options, but we feel that, as individuals, it is a bit complicated, as I mentioned before.

The team boss acknowledges that the name is not easily pronounceable and admits that it is a mouthful. As a result, Bayer did not expect anyone to refer to the team by its full name. He believed that people would create an acronym, like VCARB. However, the backlash against the radical name change has subsided, and fans are eager for the race in Bahrain.

is the team’s main driver and a strong contender for the championship in the 2025 season. Taking this into consideration, the Australian driver shared his expectations for the team’s performance in 2024.

In 2023, the Australian spent the first half of the year on the bench. As a result, the 34-year-old driver hopes to regain his previous form while leading the team. Ricciardo expects the team to perform better than eighth place. Additionally, the team gained momentum towards the end of the year and does not intend to waste it.

Furthermore, the team and Ricciardo are currently in a favorable position ahead of the inaugural race. Speculations suggest that the team is increasing production and will be on par with several midfield teams. However, a clear picture will only emerge after the opening race this Saturday. Then we will be able to determine if the team lives up to its supposed underdog status or not.
