General Motors aposta na Nvidia para relançar projeto de condução autónoma

General Motors is committed to developing its autonomous driving projects, and in this regard, it has just announced a partnership with technology giant Nvidia.

As part of this partnership, General Motors aims to utilize Nvidia’s chips and software to enhance the development of autonomous vehicles, robots, and next-generation production processes.

In this way, the American automaker intends to equip its next-generation vehicles with Nvidia’s “AI brain,” aiming to enhance driver assistance and the autonomous driving system.

Additionally, Nvidia’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) software will be used to optimize the performance of robots on the assembly lines, allowing for improved tasks such as precision welding and material transport.

Among the Nvidia products that General Motors intends to integrate into its operations is the Omniverse 3D graphics platform, which allows for virtual assembly line simulations aimed at reducing downtime and increasing production efficiency.

This partnership between General Motors and Nvidia comes at a time when the American automaker announced a significant financial investment in autonomous vehicles and its Super Cruise system, after having announced the complete acquisition of Cruise Automation, an American company specializing in autonomous vehicles, to develop driving technology for personal vehicles, rather than robotaxis.

It is worth recalling that in December 2024, General Motors announced it was suspending funding for Cruise’s robotaxi business, which occurred after a year marked by safety failures.
