Kyle Busch, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, is no stranger to the limelight. Known for his audacious driving style and relentless chase for victory, he has emerged as one of the most contentious yet gifted figures in the sport. His tenacity on the track has earned him a unique place in the hearts of fans – they either adore him or relish in his failures, but he is impossible to disregard.

Recently, however, Busch’s foray into broadcasting has raised eyebrows, including those of fellow racer, Denny Hamlin. It seems Busch’s talent extends beyond his driving abilities – he may have a future as a race commentator. Hamlin couldn’t help but express his thoughts on this potential career shift in a recent episode of his podcast, Actions Detrimental.

Entering the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series, Busch was seeking redemption following a challenging 2024 season that was devoid of victories – a first in his career, breaking his 19-year winning streak. His struggles persisted into 2025, marked by a record 62-race winless streak. This included a disappointing 33rd place finish at his hometown race, the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, due to car troubles.

In the midst of these hurdles, Busch revealed another facet of his racing prowess. He filled in for Parker Kligerman, who was participating in the 12 Hours of Sebring, in the CW broadcast booth during the Xfinity Series race at Phoenix Raceway. Joined by Adam Alexander and Jamie McMurray, Busch’s insightful breakdown of race strategies and candid analysis highlighted his profound understanding of the sport.

Busch’s commentary was met with widespread commendation, including a shoutout from Hamlin on his podcast. “I want to give a shoutout to Kyle Busch. What a fantastic job. He should quit racing. He called the Xfinity race… He did really really well… I thought Kyle blended in there really well like he has been there for quite some time,” Hamlin said, his tongue-in-cheek comment underlining the success of Busch’s broadcasting debut.

In addition to his work in NASCAR, Busch also lent his commentary skills to FloRacing’s High Limit Sprint Car Series, further exemplifying his adaptability behind the microphone. His success in broadcasting adds a new dimension to his already illustrious career. A two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and record-holder for most wins in the Xfinity Series and Truck Series, he has always been a student of the sport – a fact that was evident in his engaging and technically sound commentary.

Busch’s future in NASCAR may be uncertain at 39 years old and in the final year of his contract with Richard Childress Racing, but his strong start in broadcasting suggests he may already have a post-racing career lined up. Clearly pleased with his performance, Busch hinted at future appearances by engaging with his fans on X, asking, “Good time in the broadcast booth today. Who wants more?”

Busch and Hamlin, two of NASCAR’s biggest stars, are currently facing uncertainties in their careers. As Busch aims to prove he can still compete for championships, Hamlin is still in pursuit of his first Cup Series title. Both ex-JGR teammates appear to be at a career crossroads, albeit for different reasons.

After a disappointing result in Las Vegas, Busch’s early success in 2025 has been a glimmer of hope. He started the season with three top-10 finishes within the first four races. However, his Las Vegas performance resulted in him dropping nine places, now sitting 93 points behind the leader, William Byron. With RCR considering younger drivers from lower series, questions about Busch’s long-term plans persist.

Meanwhile, Hamlin is also facing a critical season. While he consistently contends for the championship, he is yet to secure the ultimate prize. This year, he teams up with new crew chief, Chris Gayle, hoping this change will finally lead him to the Cup Series title. His sponsorship situation, following FedEx and Mavis Tires’ exit after 2024, is also a hot topic. However, things are looking up for Hamlin’s #11 team with rumors of Ohio-based firm, Progressive Insurance stepping in as a primary sponsor.

The pressure is on for both drivers – Busch needs to prove his continued worth and secure his future, while Hamlin hopes to seize the opportunity to finally fulfil his championship dreams. As the 2025 season continues, their journeys are set to be closely scrutinized by fans and observers. So, how do you envision the future for Hamlin and Busch? Share your thoughts in the comments!
