VW is preparing to launch, through its joint venture with the FAW Group, 11 new vehicles aimed at the Chinese market starting in 2026.
Of the 11 new models, six will be 100% electric vehicles, two will be plug-in hybrids, and two will have range extenders, with only one featuring a purely combustion engine.
It is already known that all models will be launched in China under the Volkswagen and Jetta brands, with the latter set to introduce its first electric model in 2026 to meet the growing demand for low-cost electric vehicles.
In a statement, VW announced that the new models will be equipped with high-performance digital features, autonomous driving capabilities, and wireless updates, as stated by VW in a release on March 17.
It is worth noting that the joint venture between VW and FAW announced in 2024 a €298 million investment to produce three SUV models at the Tianjin factory in northern China, two of which will be powered by new energy sources and are expected to begin production in early 2026.
