Liam Lawson, the Red Bull rookie, encountered a rocky beginning to his grand prix weekend. Despite his shaky start, his team director, Christian Horner, stands firm in his defense. Lawson concluded the second practice session on Friday in the 17th position out of the 19 participating drivers. His performance, over half a second slower than his Red Bull teammate, Max Verstappen, on the same soft tyre compound, raised eyebrows.

Lawson admitted to Sky Sports F1, “Comfortable, just too slow.” He acknowledged the obvious need for improvement and the substantial work the team has to undertake. Despite his disappointing start, the young driver remains positive and motivated to improve his performance in the upcoming races.

Horner, on the other hand, was quick to defend his rookie driver. He acknowledged Lawson’s slow start but stressed that the difference in performance between the two Red Bull drivers should not be overemphasized. Horner believes that Lawson, despite his current speed, possesses the potential and skill to hone his craft and rise through the ranks.

The grand prix weekend is an important event for all Formula 1 teams, and Red Bull is no exception. The team, known for its competitive spirit and determination, is expected to work on their strategies following Friday’s practice session. With Lawson’s performance in question, the team is expected to fine-tune their approach in the upcoming races.

Lawson’s performance serves as a reminder of the intense competition and high expectations within the Formula 1 world. The young driver’s journey is just beginning, and every race, every practice session will be a learning experience that shapes him into an accomplished driver. Despite the initial hiccups, Lawson’s determination and the unyielding support from his team director, Horner, suggest that the young driver has a promising future in the world of Formula 1.
