McLaren Artura Spider: um descapotável de 700 cv

McLaren has just unveiled the convertible version of the Artura supercar, which brings some new features compared to the coupe version, including an increase in power.

The Artura Spider uses a plug-in hybrid powertrain based on a 3-liter V6 engine, which offers a power of 605 hp, combined with a 95 hp and 225 Nm axial flow electric motor, powered by a 7.4 kWh capacity battery, and allowing a 34 km range in 100% electric mode.

Therefore, the combined power is 700 hp and 720 Nm of torque, which is 20 hp more than the coupe version. The power is sent to the rear wheels through an improved 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which has been recalibrated to allow 25% faster gear shifts, and an electronically controlled limited-slip differential.

McLaren announces that the Spider is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds, from 0 to 200 km/h in 8.4 seconds, and from 0 to 300 km/h in 21.6 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 330 km/h.

The engineers at McLaren have improved the cooling system of the Artura Spider, which is equipped with generous air intakes to cool the carbon-ceramic braking system with aluminum calipers, along with better air circulation in the engine.

In addition, the dampers have been equipped with a set of new valves to improve the comfort and dynamic behavior of this convertible, and the responsiveness of the Proactive Damping Control suspension has been enhanced by up to 90%.

With the addition of the retractable hardtop, the Artura Spider weighs 62 kg more than the coupe version, which is 1560 kg. Additionally, the designers at the Woking house had to alter the rear design of the Atura to accommodate the retractable roof, which is controlled by eight electric motors that allow the hardtop to open and close in 11 seconds up to a speed of 50 km/h. McLaren also revealed that an electrochromatic glass panel roof is available as an option.

Inside, the highlight is the sport steering wheel, which is equipped with paddle shifters for gear changes and does not have any buttons.

The seats are adjustable and can have lumbar support, and optionally can be replaced by heated seats, electrically adjustable with memory.

On the other hand, the Artura Spider’s infotainment system (MIS II) allows for smartphone information replication, and the standard sound system features five speakers, but with the technology package, a Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system with 12 speakers is offered, one of them located between the seats.

McLaren has revealed that the first deliveries of the Artura Spider are scheduled to begin in the middle of this year, and the price starts at €273,800 in Spain, one of the European markets where its price has been announced.
