Ford e IVECO querem revolucionar cabina dos veículos pesados

Ford Trucks, the heavy commercial vehicle brand of Ford Otosan, and IVECO, the brand of the Iveco Group that designs, manufactures, and sells light, medium, and heavy commercial vehicles, have announced the signing of a binding Joint Development Agreement (JDA) for the design and engineering of a new cabin for heavy trucks.

This agreement follows the exclusive and non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) announced by both companies on March 14, 2024, transforming it into an operational project.

Based on this memorandum, the two companies will manufacture and assemble the cabin at their own facilities, customizing specific style design concepts, and then market the products under their respective brands, Ford Trucks and IVECO.

The new cabin will enhance the competitiveness of both brands, offering a solution in compliance with the future EU “Direct Vision” standard, with improved aerodynamics to reduce carbon emissions. The focus will be on comfort, safety, aerodynamics, and modularity of the cabin, while also prioritizing cost-effectiveness and full compatibility with all powertrain groups. The first cabins are expected to be ready for production in 2028.

Through this agreement and as a result of their joint effort, the two companies will obtain a new family of high-end modular cabins with cutting-edge technology, far superior to the cabins previously planned, while simultaneously promoting significant savings in terms of investments.

The total estimated amount of expenses to be incurred by the parties under this newly announced agreement is €343 million.
