Nissan testa nova tecnologia de condução autónoma na via pública

Nissan continues to work towards launching aself-driving model in the fiscal year 2027, and in this regard, the Japanese company has now announced that it conducted a test with its latest self-driving technology on a public road in the Mianto Mirai area of Yokohama, Japan.

The test recently conducted, which follows anotherthat took place in 2024, served for Nissan to verify the safety levels of the self-driving technology adapted to different traffic conditions worldwide.

It is worth noting that the Japanese brand utilizes knowledge and technologies obtained through research in Japan and Silicon Valley in the USA, conducted by Nissan’s Advanced Technology Center, along with participation in the UK’s evolvAD project.

The latest test vehicles are based on the Serena – the best-selling van in Japan – and incorporate 14 cameras, nine radars, and six LiDAR sensors.

The sensors mounted on the roof provide significantly enhanced perception, taking advantage of the height of the Serena and allowing for more precise identification of its surroundings compared to vehicles used in previous tests.

Furthermore, the use of Artificial Intelligence has improved recognition, behavioral prediction, and assessment capability, as well as control, providing smooth operation in a variety of complex scenarios.

To ensure maximum safety during the demonstration of the test vehicle, Nissan engineers checked an extensive number of possible scenarios along the driving route, added an immediate stop function for emergencies, and introduced intentional redundancies.

Remember that since the fiscal year 2017, Nissan has been demonstrating and testing autonomous driving technology. Currently, Nissan plans to conduct demonstration service tests with approximately 20 vehicles in Yokohama during the fiscal years 2025 to 2026 and is building an operational framework and service ecosystem with stakeholders.

Taking advantage of the test results, in the fiscal year 2027, the Japanese brand aims to provide autonomous driving mobility services in collaboration with municipalities and transport operators, with remote monitoring.
