As we delve deeper into our series evaluating the rookies making their mark in Formula 1 in 2025, we shift our focus today to a familiar face in the circuit – Liam Lawson. This half-rookie, with his 11 Formula 1 race starts and three points finishes, has been turning heads as a stand-in driver for both AlphaTauri and Racing Bulls over 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Hailing from New Zealand, Lawson may not be a fresh face in the championship; however, his consistent performance and burgeoning talent have seen him rise rapidly through the ranks. As a result, he has emerged as a beacon of hope for Red Bull. His journey in the high-octane world of Formula 1 racing has been nothing short of impressive.

Despite being dubbed a ‘half-rookie’, Lawson’s on-track performances have been anything but novice. His skill and finesse behind the wheel have earned him a reputation as a formidable racer, capable of holding his own against more seasoned competitors.

Lawson’s commendable performance while filling in for AlphaTauri and Racing Bulls in the past two years has not only won him fans but also caught the attention of Red Bull. The energy drink giant, which has a vested interest in the sport, is pinning its hopes on this New Zealander who has shown promise, skill, and tenacity in his relatively short career.

While Lawson might still be in the early stages of his career in Formula 1, his trajectory thus far indicates that he has both the talent and the drive to excel in this demanding sport. His past successes serve to validate Red Bull’s faith in him and hint at the potential of a bright future in the fast lanes of Formula 1.

Those who follow the sport will know that it takes more than just raw talent to succeed. It requires a mix of skill, determination, and the ability to perform under pressure. Lawson has demonstrated these traits time and time again, making him one to watch in the upcoming seasons.

Despite being a ‘half-rookie’, Lawson is undeniably a full-fledged talent. His journey so far has been a testament to his ability to compete with the best, and his future in Formula 1 looks as promising as the start he’s made. As we continue to follow his career, it’s clear that Lawson is more than just Red Bull’s new hope. He’s a rising star in his own right.
