After setting records at Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany, the Shanghai International Circuit in China, and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in California, USA, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach Package has now established a new fast lap record for electric cars at Interlagos, São Paulo, Brazil.
With three-time IMSA champion and three-time winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona, Brazilian Felipe Nasr, the Taycan Turbo GT completed a lap of the 4.3 km Interlagos circuit in 1:42.1 minutes.

The new record, achieved on February 5, not only reduced the Taycan Turbo S’s 2022 record (1:49.8 minutes) by nearly eight seconds, but was also about a second faster than the previous fastest lap record set by a production car, established by the 911 Turbo S (1:43.087 minutes).
This is the fourth time, and on the fourth continent, that Porsche has secured a fast lap record with the electric sports car designed for the circuit.

“It’s incredible the brutality with which the car accelerates and delivers power”, said Felipe Nasr. “The steering of the Taycan Turbo GT was very precise in slow corners and remained stable even under hard braking. The balance, the grip, a true performance machine”.
It should be noted that with the addition of the Taycan Turbo GT and the Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package, in the spring of 2024, Porsche expanded its range of 100% electric sports sedans. In these vehicles, a more powerful inverter that uses silicon carbide as a semiconductor material is employed on the rear axle. Both variants can achieve small power ‘boosts’, allowing them to exceed 1100 hp.

Additionally, Porsche reduced the weight of the Taycan Turbo GT by up to 75 kg compared to the Taycan Turbo, using various carbon elements and omitting the rear seats for an even better power-to-weight ratio.
The Porsche Active Ride suspension with GT-specific tuning is standard on both models. In dynamic driving situations, the suspension ensures better road connection thanks to a balanced load distribution across the wheels.
