Daniel Juncadella Secures Seat with IDEC-Genesis for European Le Mans Series; Andre Lotterer Confirmed for 24 Hours of Le Mans

Daniel Juncadella, the recent victor of the Qatar 1812 km LMGT3 race, is set to join the IDEC Sport LMP2 European Le Mans Series initiative, effectively partnering with Genesis’ LMDh preparation. This move comes as a result of former Formula 1 driver Logan Sargeant’s recent exit from the project.

Juncadella, a Spanish racer, will be sharing the driving seat of the #18 Oreca 07 LMP2 with teammates Jamie Chadwick and Mathys Jaubert. Furthermore, Andre Lotterer, Genesis LMDh’s development driver, will be taking the wheel of their #18 Oreca at the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans race scheduled for 14-15 June.

Juncadella, however, has a different commitment during the same period. He will be fulfilling his full-time FIA World Endurance Championship seat in the #33 TF Sport Corvette Z06 GT3.R. The 33-year-old will be participating in Le Mans, which marks the fourth round of the 2025 WEC schedule. Yet, it remains uncertain whether Juncadella will pursue a Hypercar seat next year.

Expressing his excitement, Juncadella said, “Joining IDEC Sport and Genesis Magma Racing is an incredible opportunity to make my ELMS debut with such an experienced team. Despite my current GT3 racing, I have prior LMP2 experience from the 24 Hours of Daytona. I am confident that the team will help me quickly adapt.”

Lotterer, the reigning WEC Hypercar champion, has previously joined the Genesis LMDh programme following his departure from the Porsche Penske project last year. The three-time Le Mans winner will be making his 13th appearance at the historic race later this summer.

Discussing his return to Le Mans, Lotterer stated, “The chance to return to Le Mans and bring my experience to this young team arose due to Logan’s withdrawal. The car looks very competitive, and I have already had discussions with Mathys and Jamie. We will form a strong trio. I appreciate the opportunity provided by Genesis Magma Racing and IDEC Sport.”

Cyril Abiteboul, President of Hyundai Motorsport, regards Lotterer’s inclusion as a logical choice. He stated, “Andre has immense experience and has already won the event three times. He is part of the Genesis Magma Racing family since he will race with us in Hypercar next year. This participation allows him to familiarize himself with the team, engineers, and mechanics this year while bringing his invaluable expertise from the 24 Hours of Le Mans.”

As the world of motorsports continues to evolve, the prominent roles played by Juncadella and Lotterer in these eminent teams serve to solidify their positions in the industry, while providing fans with exhilarating performances to look forward to.
