The stage is set for four-time FIA World Endurance Champion, Brendon Hartley, as he gears up for his second appearance in the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Hartley will be seen behind the wheel of Wayne Taylor Racing’s No. 40 Cadillac V-Series.R in the forthcoming Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring, replacing Alex Lynn who won the race in 2017 and 2022.

The decision came in the wake of Lynn’s absence from the Daytona Rolex 24 owing to illness, and his inability to participate in the Sebring Sanctioned Test last month due to the limited availability of a Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R. In addition, Lynn’s teammate Louis Deletraz’s mishap during the race pared down WTR’s fleet to a single car, to be shared by their quartet of full-time drivers including Jordan Taylor, Ricky Taylor, and Filipe Albuquerque.

A spokesperson from Wayne Taylor Racing stated, “Given Alex Lynn’s non-participation in the Daytona Rolex 24 due to health reasons and his lack of opportunity to test at Sebring International Raceway, a collective decision has been made by GM, the team, and the two-time Sebring winner to have Alex miss Sebring and concentrate on the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season with Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA.”

Lynn is slated to return to WTR’s line-up for the season’s grand finale, the Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

Hartley, who steps in to replace Lynn, is no stranger to the racing circuit. He made a notable finish at Daytona, securing fifth place in the No.10 WTR Cadillac and kicked off his WEC campaign for Toyota Gazoo Racing with an equally impressive fifth-place finish in Qatar. Hartley’s past exploits at Sebring include a third-place finish in 2019 under the banner of Action Express Racing and a fifth-place finish last year in the No.10 WTRAndretti Acura ARX-06.

The official roster for the 12 Hours of Sebring is anticipated to be unveiled later this week, adding to the excitement and suspense of this high-stakes racing event.
