As the IndyCar season approaches, Team Penske’s trio of drivers have been making waves in the industry with significant contractual and managerial changes during the offseason.

The first to shift gears was Will Power, the two-time champion and winner of the 2018 Indy 500. Power inked a deal with Fernando Alonso’s A14 management firm, marking a significant change in his professional trajectory. Assisting Power with this transition is his former teammate Oriol Servia, who now serves as A14’s North America representative. Servia will be at the helm of negotiations for Power’s next contract, as his current agreement with Penske is set to expire at the end of the year.

Despite the impending contract expiry, Team Penske president Tim Cindric remains optimistic about Power’s future with the team. Cindric expressed that the decision regarding Power’s continued association with the team will be made after the eagerly awaited Indy 500 in May.

In a similar vein, Scott Mclaughlin, another Penske driver, has also embarked on a new chapter by securing a contract extension with Team Penske during the offseason. Mclaughlin’s enthusiasm for the upcoming season was palpable in a recent social media post where he expressed his complete dedication to preparing for the season and his eagerness to “kick this season off right!”

The third Penske driver to make headlines is Josef Newgarden, who, after signing a multi-year extension in 2024, has now teamed up with KLUTCH Sports, the athlete management agency founded by NBA champion LeBron James and his business partner Rich Paul. This marks KLUTCH Sports’ first foray into the world of professional racing, as announced by the agency.

Newgarden, a two-time champion and Indy 500 winner himself, now shares the KLUTCH banner with a host of high-profile athletes, including names like LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and DeAndre Hopkins. The move represents a significant milestone for both KLUTCH Sports and the world of IndyCar racing, bridging the gap between motorsports and traditional sports representation.

These contractual and managerial shake-ups within Team Penske signify a dynamic offseason and set the stage for an intriguing IndyCar season. As we wait with bated breath for the Indy 500, it’s evident that the drivers are already in full throttle, gearing up for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
