There’s never a dull moment in the NASCAR universe, especially when it involves William Byron and his recent escapades. The two-time winner of the Harley J. Earl trophies at the Daytona 500 (2024, 2025) has been stirring up a storm lately, both on and off the track. Despite the controversy surrounding his Daytona 500 victory – thanks to a crash involving Denny Hamlin and Austin Cindric – and his infamous burnout that sparked accusations of deliberate wall-hitting, Byron has managed to stay in the limelight. Yet, it’s his unexpected connection to pop star Sabrina Carpenter that has really set tongues wagging.
It all started with a simple “Hi” from a fake Byron account on Carpenter’s Instagram post. Fans were quick to speculate a budding romance, only for Byron to clarify that nothing was happening between them. However, he cleverly played along, suggesting Carpenter could attend a race or he could go to one of her shows. Sadly, no response from Carpenter has been recorded as yet.
Hot on Byron’s heels, Carson Hocevar seems to be taking a leaf out of his book, or rather his social media playbook. The young driver, who has been making waves in NASCAR, recently greeted singer and social media sensation Madison Beer with a “Hi” on one of her posts – a move eerily similar to Byron’s. Unlike the earlier incident, this account undoubtedly belongs to Hocevar, and fans are loving this audacious move.
Hocevar’s rise in popularity isn’t just due to his social media antics. His on-track performance has garnered him the title of NASCAR’s ‘new villain,’ thanks to his fearless race craft. His recent exploits at the Atlanta race – bumping Kyle Busch, spinning Ryan Blaney, trading paint with Ross Chastain, and finally, hard bumping Christopher Bell on the last lap – have certainly raised eyebrows. Nevertheless, this bold approach has earned him a slew of new fans, many of whom are enthusiastically playing wingman to the 2024 Rookie of the Year.
In the wake of this, one fan suggested a new nickname for Hocevar – ‘Carrnaige Carson,’ reflecting his daring driving style and social media savvy. However, it’s worth noting that Madison Beer is reportedly in a relationship with social media influencer Nick Austin.
Despite this, NASCAR fans have been creatively rallying behind Hocevar. From borrowing yachts to fighting off mountain lions, they have conjured up amusing scenarios to portray Hocevar in a heroic light. Others have praised his driving skills, perhaps hoping to entice Beer to a race.
While the hype around Hocevar continues, one fan reminded everyone of his charitable side, thanking him for his donations to an orphanage. Whether or not Hocevar’s bold move will pay off remains to be seen. One thing is certain, however – NASCAR fans are definitely enjoying the ride.
