Team Cadillac’s Strong Start at FIA World Endurance Championship: Alex Lynn Highlights Maximum Effort in Qatar Qualifier

Riding high on the thrill of the FIA World Endurance Championship season opener in Qatar, Alex Lynn of Team Cadillac expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance in the qualifying round. Despite finishing fourth and fifth, Lynn asserts that Team Cadillac gave it their all.

Emphasizing the team’s efforts, Lynn shared, “The team has put on a solid performance from the get-go. We’ve been pushing the envelope since day one of the Prologue and have managed to secure a place at the forefront, which is exactly where we aim to be. I foresee an intensely competitive race ahead.”

Lynn, who successfully drove his #12 Cadillac V-Series.R to a fourth-place finish, was only 0.364 seconds behind the leading contender, Antonio Giovinazzi with the #51 Ferrari 499P. Lynn’s teammate, Sebastien Bourdais, in the #38 car, was hot on his heels, finishing just three-tenths of a second behind him.

This year marked a new chapter in Cadillac’s WEC journey as they partnered with JOTA, a British team that previously raced Porsche customer cars in 2023 and 2024. This new alliance seems to be off to a promising start, with JOTA claiming their first overall WEC victory at Spa last year.

Bourdais echoed Lynn’s sentiments, stating, “This is definitely a robust start for us, given that it’s our first qualifying together. There’s a long, challenging day ahead of us, but I’m optimistic that we can put forward a clean, strong performance and secure the best possible results.”

In the qualifying round, the two American cars were pitted against strong contenders, with Ferrari securing both the pole position and third place. The #15 BMW M Hybrid V8, driven by Dries Vanthoor, held the pole position until the final moment when Giovinazzi snatched it. Antonio Fuoco, in the #50 Ferrari, will start in third place, while Robin Frijns in the #20 BMW secured the sixth position.

The thrilling race is set to commence on Friday, 28th February at 2:00 PM local time or 11:00 UTC. With such an impressive lineup and intense competition, motorsport enthusiasts across the globe eagerly await the outcome.
