Unexpected Rainfall Disrupts Day 2 of 2025 F1 Pre-Season Testing in Bahrain

Unusual weather conditions disrupted the second day of the 2025 Formula 1 pre-season testing at the Bahrain International Circuit, with unexpected rainfall putting a pause on the high-octane proceedings. The Bahrain circuit, known for its typically warmer Middle-Eastern climate, has been a well-chosen venue for pre-season testing due to its favorable temperature conditions, especially in contrast to the chillier European bases of numerous F1 teams in late February.

However, the weather took a surprising turn this year, with rain showers causing multiple teams to retreat to their respective garages. Aston Martin and Haas were the exceptions, having arrived at the circuit equipped with non-dry Pirelli tyres suitable for wet conditions. This strategic decision allowed them to continue testing despite the rain, much to the chagrin of the other teams who found themselves sidelined by the unexpected weather.

The morning started with light rain around 10:00 local time, but the showers intensified approximately 90 minutes into the four-hour session. Haas had anticipated such conditions, bringing one set of intermediate tyres and another set of full wet tyres. Aston Martin, on the other hand, came prepared with three sets of intermediate tyres.

This left eight teams to merely spectate as Esteban Ocon took advantage of the situation, taking a few laps around the Bahrain circuit. It was indeed a day of unexpected turns and a lesson in preparedness for all teams.

In related news, Lewis Hamilton had previously expressed his ‘incredible feeling’ with Ferrari during the 2025 Formula 1 pre-season testing, adding another layer of intrigue and anticipation for the upcoming racing season. As we continue to navigate through these unpredictable times and weather conditions, one thing remains certain – the thrill and excitement of the Formula 1 season is just around the corner.
