Hyundai Motor e Samsung vão desenvolver baterias otimizadas para robôs

The Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) has announced a partnership agreement with Samsung SDI to develop high-performance batteries specifically for robots, with the aim of significantly increasing energy density, production, and usage time.

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding will allow Samsung SDI to develop high-capacity materials to improve energy density and optimize the design to enhance battery efficiency. This is expected to increase battery usage time and significantly improve price competitiveness.

Both parties plan to work closely together to develop an innovation model for robot-specific batteries.

This joint effort between Hyundai and Samsung SDI is of great importance considering the complex and irregular nature of robots, where the space for battery installation is limited and the use of smaller cells reduces production capacity.

To overcome this challenge, the collaboration focuses on developing a high-performance robot battery optimized for limited spaces, while simultaneously improving energy density to increase production and usage time.

“Let’s continue our efforts to develop high-performance batteries for robots with Samsung SDI, which has battery production capabilities. In the long run, we aim to increase the stability of battery supply for robots and achieve price competitiveness through market expansion”, stated Dong Jin Hyun, vice president and head of the robotics lab at Hyundai Motor Group.
