Volvo ES90: mais rápido a carregar e com autonomia de 700 km

Next week, Volvo will unveil its new 100% electric model, the ES90, a software-defined sedan that Volvo claims is the most powerful model in the brand’s history in terms of central computing capacity, promising a range of over 700 km.

In addition to its impressive range, the new ES90 will feature a battery system compatible with 350 kW charging, allowing for the recharge of 300 km of range in just 10 minutes.

The ES90 is built on the SPA2 platform with an 800 V architecture that enables lighter motors and components, reducing weight and increasing energy efficiency and range.

To create this electric architecture, Volvo stated that every component of the electric system has been upgraded to be compatible with 800 volts, including battery cells, electric motors, inverters, charging, and thermal and climate systems, resulting in benefits in terms of charging, efficiency, and performance.

Another innovation is the new battery management software developed in-house, which creates a more robust charging experience. “Compared to other electric models from Volvo, the new software reduces the ES90’s charging time from 10 to 80 to just 20 minutes. This is partly due to the integration of the adaptive charging software from Breathe Battery Technologies.

“Our 800 V technology represents another significant technological upgrade for our customers as we move towards full electrification”, said Anders Bell, director of engineering and technology at Volvo. “This technology makes our fully electric cars even more efficient, helping to charge the Volvo electric faster and allowing for greater range on a single charge.”
