Fernando Alonso, the esteemed F1 driver, has issued a call to action to the Aston Martin team, urging them to exploit every potential opportunity in the imminent 2025 Formula 1 season. This comes irrespective of the competitive nature of the all-new AMR25.

Since Alonso’s remarkable entry into the team in 2023, Aston Martin has witnessed a significant decline, a stark contrast to the six podium wins in the first eight races of that season. Current regulations have led to a loss of momentum, culminating in a disappointing 186-point decrease in the previous season, and lacking a single top-three finish.

Aston Martin, headquartered in Silverstone, has its sights set on reversing this downturn in the forthcoming 2025 season, thanks to the near-complete reinvention of the AMR25 compared to its predecessor.

At 43, Alonso remains hopeful about the team’s ability to unlock the hidden potential of their latest car, given the diversity of circuit characteristics in the initial rounds. Speaking to the press, including Motorsport Week, at the F1 75 season launch event, Alonso emphasized the importance of waiting to see the cars perform on the Bahrain track. He believes a clear picture will emerge after three or four races.

However, Alonso is definite about one thing: the team needs to outperform their performance of the last year. He acknowledged that the competition is going to be fierce, given their fifth-place finish in the Constructors’ Championship for two consecutive seasons.

Despite a challenging 2024 season, Aston Martin is resolute in its pursuit of perfection every weekend. Alonso, whilst candid about the team’s inability to secure race victories until the 2026 reset, has not dismissed the possibility of contending with the leading teams.

With the 2024 season finale witnessing less than a second separating the entire grid in Q1, Alonso predicts a nail-bitingly close competition for the upcoming season. He underscored the criticality of minor details and the necessity for Aston Martin to maximize its race prospects with the resources at its disposal.

Alonso concluded on a hopeful note, expressing readiness after spending months with the car. He commended the team’s relentless preparations for the year’s challenger and expressed optimism about the future, given the new factory and ongoing developments at Aston Martin.

In summary, Alonso’s demand for Aston Martin is to strive for perfection, improve on past performances, and exploit the full potential of the AMR25 in the 2025 F1 season. With the competition expected to be fierce, only time will tell if Aston Martin can rise to the challenge and make a triumphant comeback.
