FIA Formula E reveals the track design for its inaugural race at the Marco Simoncelli World Circuit in Misano on April 13th and 14th. The Italian leg of the championship has moved from the streets of Rome to the specially-built circuit near Rimini. This circuit, which has hosted MotoGP races for the past 17 years, is one of only three non-urban circuits on the Season 10 calendar. Named in honor of the late MotoGP rider Marco Simoncelli, the track has a rich history of hosting various motorcycle, GT, and junior single-seater racing events.
According to the official Formula E statement, the Marco Simoncelli World Circuit will have a length of 3.381km and will feature 14 turns. The track will follow a clockwise direction, with the inner sections at Turns 1, 2, 3, and 4 before transitioning to the GP layout towards Turn 5 and the hook-shaped Turn 7. A high-speed straight will lead to a left-right combination at Turns 8 and 9, followed by another fast section around the complex at the back of the circuit. The track will then return through Turn 14, leading to the main straight.
The pit area, where teams and drivers will prepare their GEN3 race cars and strategize for the race, will be located in the specially-built paddock and pit lane.
