Lewis Hamilton, the celebrated Formula 1 driver, has humorously predicted that he and his new teammate, Charles Leclerc, are “bound to stir up some trouble” during their tenure at Ferrari. Hamilton also expressed that the duo has already fostered a positive and conflict-free professional camaraderie ahead of the 2025 F1 season.
Hamilton, the most successful driver in F1 history with a record of 105 race wins and seven World Championships, is gearing up for his debut season with Ferrari after signing a multi-year contract. He made the switch from Mercedes, marking the second major change in his distinguished career. His first transfer was in 2013 when he left McLaren for Mercedes.
Joining Ferrari puts Hamilton alongside Leclerc, a driver renowned for his speed and entering his seventh full season with the Scuderia. The combination of Hamilton’s experience and Leclerc’s raw talent could prove challenging for Ferrari team principal, Fred Vasseur, particularly if competition for the World Championship intensifies.
Earlier reports from Italy suggested that Ferrari might resort to team orders if one driver gains a substantial lead early in the season. The team is allegedly ready to strategize around the more successful driver after just a few races.
Hamilton, speaking after the unveiling of the SF-25, expressed his ease of working with Leclerc. The pair share mutual interests in music and fashion, contributing to their growing rapport. Hamilton, with a twinkle in his eye, joked that their shared interests could lead to a bit of mischief at Maranello.
He elaborated, “Setting aside racing, we actually have some common passions we can discuss, and our relationship has been steadily growing. We spent a few enjoyable evenings together last year at different races, sharing laughs. I’m certain we’ll have fun and perhaps cause a little trouble during our time here.”
Hamilton also spoke highly of their professional relationship, saying, “It’s been a seamless experience working with Charles, devoid of any drama. I believe we’re going to push each other and work together as teammates to bring this team to the forefront.”
Leclerc reciprocated the sentiments, stating, “We have a great relationship already. I’ve spent quite some time with Lewis in Maranello. It’s not surprising that the most successful driver in F1 history is exceptional at many things. His success speaks for itself, and there’s a lot I can learn from him.”
Leclerc also expressed his excitement about observing Hamilton’s behind-the-scenes work ethic and racing alongside him, adding, “I’m eager to learn as much as possible and can’t wait to race together for Ferrari. Hopefully, we’ll clinch the title together.”
