Williams Secures a Game-Changer: Why Carlos Sainz Could Be the Key to Their F1 Resurrection

Carlos Sainz‘s quirky sense of humor has once again taken the spotlight, this time during a bizarre interview that has gone viral across social media ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season.

The Spanish driver, who made headlines last year after his unexpected move from Ferrari to Williams, was participating in an interview for the Fast and the Curious podcast with his new teammate Alex Albon and 2009 World Champion Jenson Button, who has recently been announced as a Williams ambassador.

During the interview, which was recorded in a team truck as part of a wider media event for F1’s 75th anniversary, a funny moment took place when the Williams team truck unexpectedly began to move. As the truck rolled, the hosts and Sainz seemed caught off guard.

Host Betty Glover joked, “We’re moving. Do they know we’re in here? We’ve got a driver with us!”

With perfect composure, Sainz calmly responded, “I need to catch a plane! Anyway, let’s continue like that didn’t happen.” The moment quickly went viral, drawing laughs from fans and media alike for Sainz’s cool reaction to the unexpected situation.

Sainz’s New Journey with Williams

The 30-year-old joins Williams after a shock exit from Ferrari, with Lewis Hamilton’s surprise move to the team in 2024 forcing Sainz to seek a new home. The Spaniard signed a long-term contract with the Grove-based team, where he’ll partner Alex Albon in what could prove to be a highly competitive pairing.

Williams, which struggled to finish ninth in the 2024 Constructors’ standings, will be looking to make strides in 2025, especially with the new regulations set to shake up the sport in 2026.

As the team aims to climb higher in the grid, all eyes will be on Sainz and Albon as they look to push for points and perhaps even podiums in what will be a challenging, yet exciting, new chapter for Williams.
