Dream NASCAR Teammates: When Friendship Meets High-Stakes Racing

Chase Elliott answers questions from reporters during Media Day at Daytona International Speedway, Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025.

NASCAR redefines the concept of “teammates.” Unlike other sports where alliances are constant, stock car racing is every driver for himself once the green flag drops. But if given the chance, who would the best in the business choose as their ideal teammate?

Elliott, Blaney, and Bubba: Best Friends or a Disaster Waiting to Happen?

Chase Elliott didn’t hesitate when asked about his dream teammate: Ryan Blaney.

“It’d be fun to have a buddy like that to work with on a weekly basis.”

Blaney’s response? He named Elliott and Bubba Wallace—but with a hilarious disclaimer.

“We’re just really good buddies and stuff. That’d be great to be working on the same crew together… or it could be the worst thing in the world. I don’t know.”

This is peak Blaney—honest, self-aware, and realistic. It’s easy to imagine Elliott, Blaney, and Wallace strategizing together, celebrating wins, and playing pranks in the garage. But add some hard racing at Daytona or a last-lap nudge at Talladega, and suddenly, that friendship could be in jeopardy.

Wallace, for his part, kept it short, sweet, and classic Bubba:

“I’d go Blaney.”

And when told that Blaney had already chosen him?

“I’m out.”

Larson & Busch: A Dream Team or a Rivalry Waiting to Explode?

Kyle Larson took a different approach—he prioritized talent and experience. His pick? Kyle Busch.

“I feel like he’s so veteran… I would love to work closer with him.”

And Busch’s response? The feeling was mutual.

“Kyle Larson.”

A Larson-Busch alliance would be equal parts thrilling and terrifying. Both drivers are naturally gifted, fearless, and aggressive—they have zero patience for mediocrity.

Would they push each other to new levels of greatness? Or would fiery on-track battles create an unbreakable rivalry? Imagine a final-lap fight at Bristol—would their teammate bond survive?

What If NASCAR Made These Teams Happen?

Pairing Elliott, Blaney, and Bubba would make for pure chaos and entertainment, while a Busch-Larson superteam could dominate the field like never before.

🔹 Which duo would work best?
🔹 Would friendships survive?
🔹 Or would rivalries explode into something bigger?

One thing’s for sure: If NASCAR ever allowed fantasy teammate matchups, the drama would be next-level.
