VW is working on a new electric model that promises to be affordable, priced at around €20,000, which is expected to hit the market in 2027.
Before the global unveiling of the new model, VW will introduce a prototype of the new model in March, currently named ID. Every1, suggesting that the production version may be called ID.1.

It is already known that VW’s new fully electric city car will be built on the MEB Small platform, the same one that will be used for the ID.2, an electric model priced below €25,000, which will be unveiled later this year and is expected to reach the market in 2026.
After announcing the prototype presentation for March, VW has now surprised by revealing new sketches of the model, created by Andreas Mindt, VW’s design director, which show that the model may feature a compact and modern design.
Thomas Schäfer, CEO of VW, revealed on social media that he is pleased with the design of the new model, “I can tell you this in advance: our design and development teams have done a fantastic job”, and he adds that “the bold confidence combined with timeless simplicity: With its compact yet spacious design, our new entry-level electric car effortlessly combines functionality and style”.
We just have to wait for the next March 5, when the German brand will unveil the concept of the new 100% electric low-cost city model.
