Mercedes-Benz has called back 7,362 units of the electric EQB in the U.S. due to a potential fire risk. The issue may affect the traction batteries, which could experience internal failures and, consequently, cause a fire, regardless of whether the vehicle is parked or in motion.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall now announced includes the EQB 250, EQB 300 4MATIC, and EQB 350 4MATIC models, and owners have been advised not to charge their vehicle batteries above 80%.
Although there have been no reports of incidents related to the issue in the United States, Mercedes-Benz attributes the failure to a battery management software problem. The solution will involve a software update that will be performed at the brand’s dealerships in the U.S.
