BYD has just unveiled the Atto 2 in Europe, a compact SUV that combines small dimensions and great agility, featuring the Blade Battery and Cell-to-Body construction, cutting-edge technology in the cabin, and generous levels of standard equipment.
Based on the e-Platform 3.0 that is at the heart of all the Chinese brand’s purely electric vehicles, the new Atto 2 is equipped with a front axle motor that produces 130 kW (174 hp) and a maximum torque of 290 Nm, allowing for an acceleration from 0-100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 160 km/h.
The electric motor is powered by a 45.12 kWh Blade Battery that boasts a combined range according to WLTP tests of 312 km and 463 km in urban cycles.
The new compact SUV from BYD features a 65kW DC charging system that allows the battery to be charged from 10% to 80% in 37 minutes, and from 30% to 80% capacity in 28 minutes. With a maximum charging power (AC) of 11kW, the ATTO 2 can fully charge the battery in five and a half hours.
The Atto 2 measures 4.31 meters in length, 1.83 meters in width, and 1.67 meters in height. With a wheelbase of 2.62 meters, these dimensions, despite placing the 100% electric model in the compact SUV category, reveal enough space to make this model family-friendly, offering plenty of room onboard and packed with standard equipment, including many features typically associated with larger vehicles.
Available in two versions, the Atto 2 in the entry-level Active version includes a list of equipment that features 17-inch alloy wheels, headlights, taillights, and LED daytime running lights, a panoramic roof with an electrically adjustable curtain, intelligent high beam control, NFC access via key, key card, smartphone, or portable device, rear parking sensors and camera, an infotainment system with a 10.1-inch rotating touchscreen, vegan leather upholstery, and V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) functionality.
The top-of-the-line version is the Boost, which is equipped with additional premium features, including heated front seats and steering wheel, ambient cabin lighting, electrically foldable exterior mirrors, front parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.
Additionally, the BYD Atto 2 Boost features a larger infotainment screen, measuring 12.8 inches, a 15 W wireless smartphone charger, and an enhanced audio system with eight speakers. The BYD onboard software allows for Over The Air (OTA) updates, and the “Hello BYD” system, available in Portuguese, provides access to various functions using voice commands. The system includes wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, USB Type C and Type A ports at the front, and two additional USB ports at the rear.
In terms of storage, the Atto 2 has a trunk capacity of 400 liters, which can be expanded to 1340 liters with the rear seats folded down.
The launch of the BYD Atto 2 in Portugal is scheduled for the end of February, with four body color options: Climbing Grey, Hiking Green, Skiing White, and Cosmos Black, and a starting price of €29,990, during the launch campaign with special financing conditions.
