Max Verstappen admits to copying Daniel Ricciardo’s steering wheel setup.

Max Verstappen, the current champion of Formula 1, has been a member of the Red Bull team since 2016. Throughout his time with the team, Verstappen has honed his skills and is now recognized as one of the top drivers in the sport. As the 2024 season approaches, Verstappen has revealed that he has been utilizing the steering wheel design of his former teammate during his tenure with the team.

Back in 2016, when Verstappen first joined Red Bull, he was paired with Daniel Ricciardo as his teammate. Despite his relative lack of experience at the time, Verstappen adopted Ricciardo’s approach to steering wheel design and has continued to employ it ever since.

In a recent discussion, Verstappen openly acknowledged that Ricciardo’s steering wheel design has had a significant impact on his performance in Formula 1. He candidly admitted that he essentially copied everything that was on Ricciardo’s steering wheel back then.

Since Ricciardo’s departure from Red Bull at the end of 2018, the career trajectories of both drivers have taken different paths. While Verstappen has continued to excel and has secured three world championships, Ricciardo’s career has faced setbacks.

Ricciardo is now determined to make a comeback to the Red Bull team and views the upcoming season with VCARB (AlphaTauri) as a stepping stone towards achieving that goal.

Having secured a place back on the Formula 1 grid, the 34-year-old driver has made it clear that he is aiming for the seat at Red Bull for the 2025 season. Currently, that seat is occupied by a former six-time Grand Prix winner, whose current contract is set to expire at the end of this year. The 2024 season holds immense importance for Ricciardo as he strives to accomplish his objective.
