Formula 1’s 2025 Car Launch Season: What You Need to Know

Formula 1’s 2025 season car launches are set to be more scattered and unconventional than ever, thanks to a mix of digital reveals, shakedowns, and F1’s grand 75th-anniversary launch event at the O2 Arena in London. This two-week spectacle will offer fans a first glimpse of the new season’s contenders—but don’t expect every car reveal to be the real deal.

Here’s everything you need to know about when, where, and how teams will be unveiling their 2025 challengers.

F1’s London Launch: A Grand Spectacle or Just a Livery Party?

One of the biggest events of the launch season will take place on February 18 at the O2 Arena in London, where all 10 teams will present their 2025 liveries in a massive season launch. However, there’s a catch:

🚨 The cars on display will NOT be real 2025 models. Instead, they’ll be show cars, likely generic models wrapped in new season liveries.

⚠️ What to expect:
✅ New liveries revealed for the first time
✅ Drivers and team bosses sharing their thoughts
✅ Entertainment and performances
❌ No actual 2025 cars—just show models

For hardcore fans looking for technical details, this event might be underwhelming. However, some teams may drop digital renders of their actual 2025 cars during the event, giving us a sneak peek at real design changes before pre-season testing.

Which Teams Will Reveal Their Cars First?

💥 Williams Takes the Lead
The first proper car launch comes from Williams, who will reveal the FW47 at Silverstone on February 14 with a special one-off camouflage livery. Unlike other teams, Williams is taking a bold approach, showing off their actual car before the London event.

👀 Possible Spy Shots from Haas
Haas is expected to shakedown its 2025 car at Silverstone on February 16, though no images will be released before the February 18 livery launch. However, spy photographers might catch some early glimpses.

🔴 Ferrari’s Fiorano Reveal
On February 19, Ferrari will reveal the SF-25 digitally before immediately hitting the track for a shakedown at Fiorano. This will be Lewis Hamilton’s first official laps in a Ferrari.

⚡ Bahrain Shakedowns

  • Aston Martin (Feb 24)
  • Mercedes (Feb 24)
  • Red Bull & Mercedes (Feb 25)

These teams will skip early European runs and head straight to Bahrain to prepare under warmer conditions before pre-season testing.

Still Missing:
McLaren, Alpine, and Sauber have not yet confirmed their launch or shakedown plans.

What Design Changes Can We Expect?

Even though the 2025 season marks the final year of the current regulations, teams still have room to refine and optimize their designs. Here’s what to watch for:

🔧 Ferrari’s Major Suspension Overhaul

  • Ferrari will switch to a pullrod front suspension to improve aerodynamics and mechanical performance.
  • Haas, however, will NOT adopt this setup, instead carrying over their 2024 front suspension.

💨 Aero Upgrades Across the Grid

  • Sidepods could see the biggest visual changes as teams adjust monocoque designs for better airflow.
  • Underfloor upgrades will be crucial, though we’ll only get a peek if someone crashes during testing and exposes the bottom of the car.

🏎️ McLaren’s “Brave” New Design
McLaren CEO Zak Brown has hinted at bold aerodynamic innovations, meaning we could see a big visual change in their 2025 contender.

🔴 Red Bull’s Surprise Factor
Last year, Red Bull shocked everyone with a drastically different RB19. Could they do it again? With Adrian Newey still leading their design team, nothing is off the table.

Key Launch & Testing Dates for F1 2025

📅 February 14 – Williams car launch with one-off livery
📅 February 16 – Haas shakedown at Silverstone
📅 February 17 – Racing Bulls rumored Imola shakedown
📅 February 18 – Official F1 Season Launch (London O2 Arena)
📅 February 19 – Ferrari digital launch & Fiorano shakedown
📅 February 23 – Aston Martin digital launch
📅 February 24 – Mercedes digital launch + Aston Martin Bahrain shakedown
📅 February 25 – Red Bull & Mercedes Bahrain shakedown
📅 February 26-28 – Pre-season testing in Bahrain

Final Thoughts: Expect the Unexpected

💡 Will we see another Red Bull masterclass?
💡 Can McLaren deliver a title-contending machine?
💡 Will Ferrari’s suspension change boost Hamilton’s title chances?

With stable regulations, expect incremental improvements rather than radical overhauls. However, pre-season testing in Bahrain will be the true test of who’s ready to challenge for the 2025 title.

Buckle up—Formula 1’s 2025 season is about to take off! 🚀🏁
