At just 18 years old, the North Carolina native has already taken the Truck and Xfinity Series by storm, and now, expectations are mounting as he prepares for a Cup Series debut that could make history.
A Rising Star with a Unique Path to Success
Zilisch’s NASCAR journey has been anything but conventional. While many American racers have focused on domestic circuits, Zilisch honed his skills in Europe, competing against some of the world’s best drivers. His experience and raw talent were on full display last year, as he achieved an astonishing set of victories:
- Rolex 24 at Daytona
- 12 Hours of Sebring

Can Zilisch Shock the Cup Series?
While the Cup Series presents an entirely new challenge, NASCAR YouTuber Eric Estepp believes the young driver is more than capable of rising to the occasion:

A Proven Track Record at Circuit of the Americas
The optimism surrounding Zilisch’s one-off Cup Series appearance is well-founded. His debut at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in the Truck Series last year was record-breaking:
- Set a new track record in qualifying by seven-tenths of a second
- Passed more cars than anyone else in the 2024 XPEL 225
- Finished fourth in his debut race
Already earning a reputation as a ‘road course king’, Zilisch dominated Watkins Glen, starting from pole position and leading 45 laps en route to victory.
Could He Pull Off a Cup Series Win?
While a top-five finish seems more likely, a surprise win isn’t impossible. After all, Trackhouse Racing teammate Shane van Gisbergen did just that, winning the Chicago Street Race in his Cup Series debut in 2023.
