Daniil Kvyat Joins DS Penske for Formula E Jeddah Rookie Test—A New Chapter in His Racing Career?

Daniil Kvyat is back behind the wheel of a top-tier single-seater.

The former Red Bull and Toro Rosso Formula 1 driver has officially signed with DS Penske to take part in the Formula E rookie practice session in Jeddah on Thursday, February 13.

This move signals Kvyat’s continued exploration of different racing disciplines, having already made a name for himself in endurance racing with Lamborghini while maintaining strong ties to the world of open-wheel competition.

Kvyat’s First Taste of the GEN3 Evo Formula E Car

The 30-year-old Russian is no stranger to high-performance racing, but this will be his first outing in Formula E’s latest GEN3 Evo car.

“I am very excited to join the team for the Rookie Free Practice,” Kvyat said.
“It is my first time driving a Formula E new-generation GEN3 Evo car, and I am eager to get a feel for it on track.”

Kvyat has some prior experience in Formula E, having taken part in a rookie test with NIO in Berlin, but Jeddah marks a bigger opportunity with a top-tier team in DS Penske.

DS Penske’s Faith in Kvyat’s Experience

For DS Penske, Kvyat’s Formula 1 background and versatility across different racing categories make him a valuable asset for their Jeddah test program.

“We’re delighted to have Daniil join us for FP0 in Jeddah,” said DS Penske Deputy Team Principal Phil Charles.
“His background in Formula 1 and his proven ability to perform at the highest level will provide invaluable insights for our team.”

This test isn’t just about adapting to the track—it’s about seeing whether Kvyat could have a future in Formula E.

Could Kvyat’s Future Be in Formula E?

With his reduced 2025 IMSA endurance program, Kvyat appears to be keeping his options open for a return to full-time single-seater racing.

🌍 Formula E’s global presence could be an attractive option.
⚡ The GEN3 Evo car’s aggressive performance style could suit his driving approach.
🏎️ DS Penske is a competitive team—if he impresses, a future race seat isn’t out of the question.

Final Thoughts: A Second Wind for Kvyat?

From Formula 1’s high-stakes world to endurance racing and now Formula E, Kvyat is proving that he’s far from done with elite motorsport.

🚀 Can Kvyat use this test as a launchpad for a Formula E career?
🚀 Will DS Penske consider him for future races?
🚀 Could this be the start of a major shift in Kvyat’s racing future?

One thing is certain—his performance in Jeddah will be closely watched.
