Fábricas da VW Veículos Comerciais já utilizam eletricidade verde

VW Commercial Vehicles, located in Hanover, Germany, announced that it has started using exclusively electricity from renewable sources since the beginning of 2025.

Thus, the factory that produces all variants of the fully electric ID. Buzz model, among other models, has been fully converted to green electricity since 2019.

The goal of VW Commercial Vehicles is that by 2040, all of its factories will have emission-neutral production, ten years earlier than initially planned.

It is worth noting that in addition to the Hanover factory, the production unit in Poznań, Poland, where the Crafter is built, as well as the factory in Września, where the Crafter is produced, also utilizes the well-known “green electricity,” allowing for a reduction in carbon emissions and resource conservation.

The factory in Września has particularly favorable conditions for self-sufficient energy supply, according to the German brand, as since September 2024, the factory’s own photovoltaic system has generated enough electricity to power all of its production operations for the first time. This system consists of 25,000 modules with a capacity of 15.2 megawatts (MW) and covers an area of 22 hectares.

“We are working to reduce carbon emissions and conserve resources in many areas of the company. The switch to green electricity at the Hanover factory is another important step towards sustainable and environmentally friendly production at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.”, said Karl Bernqvist, responsible for sustainability on the Board of Management of VW Commercial Vehicles.
