VIDEO: Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Wrecks Local Legend Burt Myers, Fans Erupt in Fury at Bowman Gray

Bowman Gray Stadium was supposed to be a celebration of NASCAR’s return to its short-track roots after more than five decades. The Madhouse crowd packed the grandstands to witness their local hero, Burt Myers, take on the Cup Series elite in the Cook Out Clash. But when Myers’ dreams came crashing down—literally—at the hands of Ricky Stenhouse Jr., the fans didn’t hold back their anger.

🔥 How It All Went Down

  • Burt Myers, an 11-time Modified Champion at Bowman Gray, was fighting to transfer into the 200-lap Clash through the 75-lap Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ).
  • On Lap 13, Stenhouse Jr. made contact with Myers’ car, sending him nose-first into the wall.
  • Myers’ race—and his shot at competing in NASCAR’s biggest short-track event—was over.
  • Furious fans flipped off Stenhouse Jr. as he passed by on the cool-down lap. 🖕

😡 Fans Let Stenhouse Jr. Hear It!

As soon as Myers’ car hit the wall, the crowd erupted in boos. When Stenhouse Jr. drove past, dozens of middle fingers were raised in unison, making it clear who they blamed for their hometown hero’s heartbreak.

Even Burt Myers himself didn’t hold back in his post-race comments:

🗣️ Myers on the Crash:
“It was definitely the 47… His bumper and I’m in the infield, so I guess that tells the story. It was an awesome experience. I just hate for it to end the way it did… but we had a great time.”

🗣️ Myers on His Car’s Performance:
“We didn’t have the car we thought we needed to get the job done completely there at the end, but we were picking them off one at a time and I think we gained four or five spots there. I got shoved into the 47 [Stenhouse] and pushed him out… I don’t know if he was upset about that or what. But we ended up hitting the wall.”

📌 Was Stenhouse Jr. to Blame?

While Myers admitted his car wasn’t perfect, he clearly pointed to Stenhouse Jr.’s bumper as the reason for his early exit.

This isn’t the first time Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has found himself in hot water with aggressive driving:
✅ 2024 All-Star Race: He brawled with Kyle Busch at North Wilkesboro Speedway, earning a $75,000 fine.
✅ Madhouse Mayhem: Now, he’s made an enemy of Bowman Gray’s most passionate fans.

💭 Did Stenhouse Ruin Myers’ NASCAR Dream or Just Hard Racing?

This incident is already one of the biggest talking points of the 2025 Clash at Bowman Gray. Was Ricky Stenhouse Jr. too aggressive, or was this just short-track racing at its finest? Drop your takes below! ⬇️🔥
