Juan Pablo Montoya: “If Ferrari Delivers, Lewis Hamilton Will Be Unstoppable—Even Max Verstappen Won’t Beat Him”

MONTREAL, QUEBEC - JUNE 18: Third placed Lewis Hamilton of Great Britain and Mercedes and Race winner Max Verstappen of the Netherlands and Oracle Red Bull Racing celebrate in parc ferme during the F1 Grand Prix of Canada at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on June 18, 2023 in Montreal, Quebec. The Formula 1 world is bracing for a seismic shift, and Juan Pablo Montoya believes that if Ferrari gets it right, Lewis Hamilton will be untouchable once again.

The seven-time world champion endured a frustrating few years at Mercedes, struggling to adapt to the ground-effect era since 2022. But now, with a fresh start at Scuderia Ferrari, Montoya insists that Hamilton could rediscover his dominant form—and even Max Verstappen won’t be able to stop him.

Montoya’s Bold Prediction: A Resurgent Hamilton Would Be Unbeatable

Montoya, known for his fearless driving and sharp F1 insights, didn’t mince words.

“If Hamilton has a fast car this season, we’ll see the old Hamilton from a few years ago—the Hamilton that nobody can beat, not even Max Verstappen.”

That’s a massive statement, especially considering Verstappen’s current reign of dominance with Red Bull Racing.

A Difficult Mercedes Exit: Can Ferrari Bring Out the Best in Hamilton?

Hamilton’s final season with Mercedes was a rollercoaster. While he snapped his 945-day winless streak with two victories, he was visibly unhappy with the W15’s limitations. At one point, the British superstar even considered walking away from the campaign early—a clear sign that his patience had worn thin.

Now, the question is—can Ferrari give him a machine worthy of his talent?

Montoya believes that if Ferrari nails the car development, fans will witness a Lewis Hamilton throwback to his most dominant years.

Keeping Hamilton Motivated—Ferrari’s Biggest Challenge?

But Montoya also issued a word of caution—Hamilton’s mindset will be crucial.

“The question for Ferrari is how will they keep him motivated?” Montoya questioned.

Ferrari has a storied history of internal power struggles, and with Charles Leclerc already deeply embedded in the team, team dynamics will be under intense scrutiny. If Ferrari fails to manage its drivers effectively, internal friction could derail their title ambitions before they even begin.

The Real Test Begins in Pre-Season Testing

Hamilton has already completed his first runs for Ferrari, but the real battle begins in pre-season testing. The Scuderia’s 2025 challenger will need to be fast, adaptable, and—above all—consistent if Hamilton is to challenge Verstappen, McLaren, and Mercedes in what promises to be a fiercely competitive grid.

Can Hamilton rise again and turn his Ferrari dream into an eighth world title? Or will Ferrari’s notorious inconsistency once again leave them a step behind the title fight?

One thing is for sure—if Montoya is right, 2025 could be the most thrilling season in years.
