Esteban Ocon signs multi-year deal with Haas F1 with big plans and clear targets!

When Lewis Hamilton fired up his Ferrari for the first time at Fiorano, the world was watching—including an unexpected guest in the paddock. Haas driver Esteban Ocon happened to be in Maranello on the same day, getting a firsthand look at what he called “one of the greatest moments in F1 history.”

For Ocon, it was a front-row seat to a spectacle few get to witness—the day the seven-time world champion officially became part of the Prancing Horse legacy.

Ocon on Hamilton’s Ferrari Debut: “It Was Crazy”

Hamilton’s arrival in Maranello last week was nothing short of a Tifosi-fueled frenzy. Hundreds of fans lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the most decorated driver of this generation stepping into Ferrari red for the first time.

And among those in attendance? Esteban Ocon, who happened to be in Maranello for simulator work with Haas.

“I was lucky enough to be in the same place on the same day because I was also at the Ferrari simulator,” Ocon told Canal+’s ‘La Boîte A Questions.’

“There was a crazy atmosphere, people were going crazy, and it’s just wonderful to see that there’s so much passion for Ferrari and for F1.”

But for Ocon, this wasn’t just another driver joining another team—it was the meeting of two historic forces.

“It’s clear that to have the greatest driver of our generation in the most successful team is just something crazy. So yeah, I can’t wait to be able to fight on track with him, that’s for sure.”

Hamilton Feels the Ferrari Magic: “One of the Best Feelings of My Life”

For Hamilton himself, this wasn’t just another step in his legendary career—it was a childhood dream coming true.

“I’ve been lucky enough to have many firsts in my career, from the first test to the first race, podium, win, and championship, so I wasn’t sure how many more firsts I had,” Hamilton said. “But driving a Scuderia Ferrari HP car for the first time was one of the best feelings of my life.”

The seven-time champion didn’t hold back his emotions, describing the raw excitement of driving through the Ferrari garage doors for the first time.

“I had the biggest smile on my face,” he admitted. “It reminded me of the very first time I tested a Formula 1 car—such an exciting and special moment.”

But perhaps the most awe-inspiring part of the experience for Hamilton was witnessing the passion that Ferrari is built on.

“I already knew from the outside how passionate the Ferrari family is, from everyone in the team to the Tifosi,” he said. “But to now witness it firsthand as a Ferrari driver has been awe-inspiring.”

Ocon and Haas’ Ferrari Connection Grows Stronger

Ocon’s Maranello visit wasn’t just about being in the right place at the right time—it also highlighted Haas’ deepening relationship with Ferrari.

As the American team continues to receive power units, gearboxes, and suspension from the Scuderia, it also relies on Ferrari’s simulator for a portion of its development.

However, with Haas now forging a technical alliance with Toyota, the team is set to gain its own state-of-the-art simulator, reducing its dependency on Ferrari.

Still, the connection remains strong—and Ocon’s firsthand look at Hamilton’s Ferrari debut is a reminder of just how deeply intertwined the teams are.

What’s Next for Hamilton and Ferrari?

After his Fiorano debut, Hamilton moved straight to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to continue preparations for the 2025 season. However, his momentum hit a snag when he crashed in the final sector of the Spanish Grand Prix circuit, cutting his test session short.

But the Brit isn’t slowing down. He will remain in Spain to take part in Pirelli’s 2026 tyre test next week, as he continues his integration into Ferrari’s high-stakes operation.

With the biggest driver move in modern F1 history now fully in motion, all eyes are on how fast Hamilton can adapt—and how soon Ferrari can give him a title-winning car.

The journey has officially begun.
