It is true that the “Guinness World Records” features records for every taste, among which is the record for the longest “drift” performed by an electric vehicle, recently achieved by the Porsche Taycan.

The 100% electric model from the German brand completed a total of 132 laps in controlled “drift,” which took 46 minutes, covering exactly 17.503 kilometers.

Behind the wheel of the Taycan GTS, which set the new record, was the instructor from Porsche Experience in Lapland, Jens Richter, who needed two attempts, under extreme conditions, to achieve the record.

“Under the extreme continuous load of the Taycan during the drift, the ice track deteriorated more quickly than expected,” said Jens Richter. “Therefore, we had to abort the first attempt after about 11 kilometers.”

For the second attempt, the team switched to shorter spikes and took advantage of the fact that the ice temperatures had dropped again by nightfall. This attempt was successful: Jens Richter kept the standard Taycan GTS in a

“drift” controlled over a total of 17,503 kilometers or 132 laps, using only the accelerator and small steering interventions.

“With our new title from the ‘Guinness World Records’ on ice, the Taycan has once again proven its drifting capabilities”, said Jens Richter. “And this time even with all-wheel drive. The fact that the Taycan GTS can be controlled so well, even in extreme conditions, speaks volumes about its excellent chassis and balanced performance”.
