Fábrica da Stellantis em Mangualde alcança melhor ano de produção da sua história

The Portuguese Automobile Association (ACAP) revealed that automobile production in Portugal grew by 46.4% in January compared to the same month in 2023, reaching 30,089 vehicles.

In a statement, ACAP revealed that “the statistical information for 2024 confirms the importance that exports represent for the automotive sector, as 99.3% of vehicles manufactured in Portugal are destined for the foreign market, which significantly contributes to the Portuguese trade balance.”

Europe continues to be the leading market for exports of vehicles manufactured in the country, accounting for 75.4% of exports, with Germany (20%), Italy (12.8%), Spain (8.6%), and France (7.3%) at the top of the ranking.

In terms of major regions, the African market, led by Algeria (13.3%), maintains the second position in exports of automobiles manufactured in Portugal, accounting for 16.1% of exports. Asia is in third place with 5.5% of exports of vehicles manufactured in Portugal.

Regarding the assembly of automobiles in Portugal, 20 heavy vehicles were assembled in the first month of 2024, all of them passenger vehicles, representing a 25% increase compared to the same month in 2023.

The ACAP statement further states that in January, 55% of the vehicles assembled in the country were exported, representing 11 units. The United Kingdom (81.8%) and Germany (18.2%) were the only destinations for these exports.
